VietNamNet Bridge – A 4kg uterine fibroid tumor was successfully removed by doctors of the Hospital of Go Vap District, HCM City on July 14.

The operation was completed at 2pm, saving the 50-year-old patient from abdominal pain, breathing difficulty and swelling belly for over two years.

Dr. Pham Huu Quoc, Director of Go Vap District Hospital, said the patient was hospitalized with a very big belly and symptoms of hernia at her belly-button.

The patient said that her belly began to develop two years ago. She visited many hospitals and was diagnosed with a uterine fibroid tumor but she had no money for surgery.

Recently, the tumor developed very quickly, causing pain and discomfort so she visited the Go Vap District Hospital.

"We examined and identified a fibroid tumor that occupied the entire womb of the patient. The tumor hampered many organs in the abdomen, and surgery was the only way to save the patient," Dr. Quoc said.

After consultation with the doctors of Tu Du Hospital, the surgery was carried out and after four hours, the tumor was taken out.

After the surgery, the patient was transferred to the intensive care room in stable condition.
