The life of a man from the central Nghe An Province's Con Cuong District, who was shot in the heart, has been saved.

Vi Van Hai, 34, from the central Nghe An Province's Con Cuong district has been saved after being shot in the heart. 

On Saturday, Vi Van Hai, 34, was rushed to the provincial general hospital with multiple bullet wounds, the online newspaper of Voice of Viet Nam (VOV) said. He was in a very critical condition.

Hai used his gun carelessly while hunting in the forest, and shot himself.

The serious wound in his heart, which caused heavy bleeding, breathing difficulty and cardiac collapse, was usually a fatal one, doctors said.

A computed tomography image showed a bullet was lodged between the right and the left ventricles of Hai's heart.

After a four-hour surgery, the doctors removed the 0.5x0.6cm bullet. Hai was given more than one litre of blood as he bled heavily during the operation.

He was now in a stable condition, three days after the surgery, Dr Tran Minh Long of the hospital said, adding that he was gradually recovering and was able to eat, drink and breathe normally. ­
