VietNamNet Bridge – Returning home, a mother in Ky Son district in the central province of Nghe An detected that a dog bit off her baby’s penis.
The accident occurred in Kho Nap hamlet, Bao Nam commune on October 1. The victim is Thong Minh, a Kho Mu ethnic minority baby, the third son of Pho Kham and Me Kham.

The family took the baby across over 300km to the Pediatrics Hospital in Vinh City for treatment. The boy lost part of his penis, lost a lot of blood and the wound was infected. The boy left the hospital on October 4.

According to the couple, that day the mother – Me Kham – took care of the baby. She put the baby on the floor and went to a stream near her house to have a bath. When she returned, the boy was crying on a pool of blood. A dog was standing next to him, chewing his penis.

The mother tried to cure the wound by folk method, which made the wound infected. Then the couple took the baby to hospital for emergency aid.

Doctors said that this is an uncommon case. They could not re-join the penis since the dog ate it.

The baby is recovering very well. The urinating function is now normal. However, the boy will have to go to big hospitals when he grows up to have his penis recreated.
