According to witnesses, the accident occurred at around 1:15 pm when the coach, which carried 25 passengers, coming from HCM City, crashed into the truck, which was leaving Dong Nai in the opposite direction on National Highway 1A.
The bus driver was Ly Chanh Phong, 41, from the Mekong Delta City of Can Tho, while the truck was driven by Truong Van Hiep, 44, from the central province of Binh Dinh.
The accident killed Ms. Mai Mi Sen, 57, who was the bus owner, on the spot while another woman on the coach, Do Thi Nhang, 69, died on the way to hospital.
Sixteen others in the coach were injured. All of them were taken to a local hospital. After that, two seriously injured victims were transported to the provincial hospital.
The accident caused heavy traffic congestion of 2km long.
The coach driver said that he had lost control of the bus due to the slippery road caused by heavy rain. As a result, the vehicle drifted into the wrong lane and hit the truck.

Another deadly accident was reported at 0.30am of May 17 on National Highway 13 in the southern province of Binh Duong, which killed three on the spot and heavily injured one.
A five-seat car, driven by Vuong Hong Vinh, 28, from Binh Duong, with three passengers hit the back of a truck. The strong collision killed the car driver, Mr. Le Phong Vu, 34, and Ms. Nguyen Hong Phuong, 20, on the spot.
Another man on the car was seriously injured.
