Dong Nai Province has approved the detailed planning of a nearly 100-hectare Nuclear Science and Technology Research Center in Hang Gon Commune, Long Khanh City. This center is expected to play a key role in advancing nuclear technology in Vietnam.
A hub for nuclear innovation
According to the Dong Nai People’s Committee, the research center will enhance Vietnam's capabilities in nuclear science and technology.
It aims to train a high-caliber workforce capable of mastering advanced nuclear technologies while expanding the application of atomic energy to support economic and social development.
The center will feature modern infrastructure, including a 10 MWt research reactor, laboratories, and specialized equipment to meet operational and research needs.
Project details
The plan outlines key aspects such as land use, social and technical infrastructure, and a focus on maintaining a comprehensive and sustainable design.
The site will cover over 96 hectares, with a maximum building density of 30% and structures limited to five stories.
The center is expected to employ 800 to 1,000 specialists and staff. It will serve as a significant facility for training and innovation in nuclear energy, supporting both national research efforts and practical applications.
The Ministry of Science and Technology is the project’s investor, with the Project Management Board of the Nuclear Science and Technology Research Center acting as the representative.
