VietNamNet Bridge – Four kids who had just fled from a charity house in the southern province of Dong Nai, have been rescued when found  tramping Saigon streets with many wounds on their bodies.

Seeing the four kids with many injuries wandering on Hung Vuong road, District 5, HCM City on November 8, some people took them to a police station. The kids were immediately brought to a nearby hospital.

At the hospital, four kids - 4, 5, 6 and 13 years old- said they ran away from a charity house, which is managed by the Dong Nai Youth Union, in Dong Nai province.

A kid named Diep Tuan Khoa, 6, who had many injuries on his body, told police these were caused by a man named Thanh, who worked at the charity house. He beat Khoa with a stick and a chain.

Another child named Le Gia Huy, 5, also had  injuries all over. His broke his arm while fleeing from the charity house.

The four children said that they had fled from the charity house because they were beaten very often by a woman named Lan and the man named Thanh.

They climbed up a 2m high wall in the early morning of November 8. After several hours walking on the street, they begged some money and caught a coach to HCM City.

On November 9, the chairwoman of the charity house, Nguyen Thanh Hien, who is also an official of the Dong Nai Youth Union went to HCM City to pick up the kids but the HCM City Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs didn’t hand over the kids. They wanted to keep them for further treatment and investigation.

Hien said that there is no official conclusion that the kids were maltreated and refused to answer any questions.

The charity house in Dong Nai was built in 1998 by the Dong Nai Youth Union to take care of, educate and seek jobs for street children and orphans.
