The complex in Cu Chi District uses plasma technology with a capacity of 100 tonnes per day.

The deputy chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee, Le Van Khoa, asked the HCM City Urban Environment Co. Ltd. (Citenco) to oversee the move.

During the relocation period, authorities will ensure that medical waste treatment in the city will not be interrupted.

Khoa said the city would give a subsidy of VND65,000 (US$2.9) per month to locals living near the Dong Thanh waste burial site, starting from September 1.

He has also instructed the city Department of Natural Resources and Environment to carefully evaluate all plans before calling for investment for renovation of the Dong Thanh area.
