VietNamNet Bridge – Foreign donors,
including Australia, the European Union, Germany, Japan and the UK, have
pledged 89 million USD for the Khmer Rouge tribunal in 2012-2013.
Spokesperson of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC)
Neth Pheaktra said on Feb. 27 that ECCC leaders have returned to Cambodia from New York after receiving support from the
donors.
The pledges were good news for Cambodian staff at the court who have not been
paid since October last year, Neth Pheaktra said.
The ECCC delegation, comprising foreign and Cambodian administrative officials,
visited the United Nation last week to meet representatives of donor countries
for talks on an ECCC budget shortfall that may hinder the trials.
