Double wins for Tung Duong at Dedication Awards

VietNamNet Bridge – Singer Tung Duong, who is called “Vietnam’s Lady Gaga,” won two prizes at the Dedication Awards 2010.

VietNamNet Bridge – Singer Tung Duong, who is called “Vietnam’s Lady Gaga,” won two prizes at the Dedication Awards 2010.

The Hanoi native male singer is the winner of two categories: Album of the year and Singer of the year. He won nearly 100 percent of the votes for album “Li Ti”.

Tung Duong, 28, won the jury prize of the Sao Mai Diem Hen singing contest in 2004. He was also awarded 2006 Mai Vang (Yellow Apricot) prize initiated by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper.

Vietnam Idol 2010 Uyen Linh didn’t obtain any award but she was a big surprise. The untrained singer was nominated in the Singer of the Year category. Her votes were only five less than the winner – Tung Duong and 12 votes more than diva Thanh Lam.

In the two remaining categories, young singer and songwriter Le Cat Trong Ly won the Songwriter of the Year award while Vietnam Idol was honored as the Show of the Year.

The organizing board also presented the Dedication Medal to late People’s Artist, singer Y Moan for his contribution to Vietnam’s music. His son, singer Ygaria received the medal.
