VietNamNet Bridge – The National Institute for Food Hygiene and Safety Testing has found a commercial brand of drinking water named Wells contains small amounts of di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP).

The water contained 2.4 parts per billion of DEHP, a cancer-causing plasticiser, less than the minimum standard content set by the World Health Organisation.

The drinking water is produced by the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group's PV OIL Thai Binh.

Southern Ca Mau Province's Health Department has ordered the demotion of Nguyen Duy Tu, deputy head of Nam Can General Hospital's Obstetrics Department, for wrongly diagnosing leading to the death of a 17-year-old girl last Tuesday.

Tu said the girl named Huyen suffered from soft tissue injury after an accident when, in fact she is believed to have suffered severe brain trauma while being raped.

Two male nurses including Ho Minh Canh and To Vinh Phuoc who worked on the same night shift with Tu are expected to be also disciplined.
