VietNamNet Bridge – Hot weather and drought continue scorching the southern-central coastal provinces in the upcoming days, reported the Central Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center.

With the weather condition, Cultivation Department of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development asked departments of Agriculture and Rural Development in southern- central coastal provinces to plan measures to cope with drought and water shortage for planting.

Vice Head of Cultivation Department Nguyen Van Hoa said that because of influence of the weather phenomenon EI Nino, hot weather has occurred in the southern central coastal provinces since April, 2015.

In Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Khanh Hoa and Binh Dinh province, the daily temperature over past three months was higher than that in previous years, causing extreme water shortage and prolonged drought. Hot weather affected directly to resident’s life and planting production.

Dealing with bad weather condition, Cultivation Department asked Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan and Binh Dinh provinces to control water source and release water to ensure enough water for rice farming.

In the related weather news, storm Linfa was located at 200 kilometers southwestward of Taiwan Island at 7pm yesterday. Speed of wind near the storm center reached level 10- 12.

By 7pm today (July 9), the typhoon is predicted to be southeastern territorial water of China’s Guangdong province. The strong wind will gust level 9- 11.

Additionally, because of storm circulation, East Sea’s northeastern territorial water will see strong wind of level 6-10, gust up to level 11- 12, 3- 5 m high waves and sea rough.

Due to operation of southwest monsoon, territorial water from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau and Spratly Island will see 6- 8 level wind speed, 2- 4 m high waves, cyclone and sea rough, announced the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center.
