VietNamNet Bridge – All pharmaceutical companies in Viet Nam, using natural ingredients in the production of their products, are required to meet the World Health Organisation's Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard by January 1, 2014 in order to continue operations, according to the Ministry of Heath.

To date, more than 20,000 types of medicine and around 100 producers operating in the Vietnamese market have met GMP standards which aim to ensure the good quality of medicine and related pharmaceutical products.

The Ministry of Health has required pharmaceutical companies to follow GMP – WHO standards since July 1, 2008 and to apply for business licences in order to produce drugs.

The Ministry aims at improving the standard of domestic pharmaceutical production in order to meet international standards and to promote the export of medicine.
