VietNamNet Bridge – Authorities at Tan Son Nhat airport in HCM City caught a 26-year-old Vietnamese man transporting 2,000 tablets of ecstasy or MDMA into the country.
The smuggler, who was living in Canada, was found with the drugs hidden in his luggage while entering HCM City from Hong Kong through Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
The trafficker has been handed over to the Drug Crime Investigation Department for further investigations.
MDMA, popularly known as ectasy, is a synthetic and psychoactive party drug. It produces feelings of increased energy, euphoria, emotional warmth and empathy toward others, and distorts sensory and time perception, according to the US National Institute on Drug Abuse.
