Mr. Raymond de Roon.

The Dutch MPs like to be informed about the current political and economic situation in Vietnam.

In particular, they conduct this working visit to see how the transition from Dutch aid to trade develops and how further opportunities for bilateral trade and economic cooperation can be explored.

Vietnam and the Netherlands are already active in many sectors such as water management, agriculture, energy, logistics and shipbuilding.

The delegation plans to visit Hanoi, Hai Phong, the Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City.

In Hanoi, the delegation will meet with Vietnam’s National Assembly Committee for Economics and State Budget, pay a courtesy call to Vice Minister of Industry and Trade, representatives of international organisations and NGO’s, such as the World Bank and GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccination and Immunisation).

In Hai Phong, where shipyard Damen Song Cam (a Vietnamese-Dutch joint-venture) is located, the delegation will meet representatives from Dutch businesses in the maritime sector.

Subsequently, the parliamentarians will visit Dutch projects and companies in the Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City, such as the Vietnam Brewery Ltd. Plant (part of Heineken), a farm of FrieslandCampina and the Protrade textile factory, where important work is done on the improvement of labour conditions (together with the Better Work Programme of the International Labour Organisation).
