VietNamNet Bridge – Cargo ships will be allowed to use e-customs procedures from May 15 under a decision issued by the Prime Minister.

Vessels will be able to complete customs procedures on the Viet Nam General Customs Department's official website www.customs.gov.vn.

Vietnamese and foreign vessels wishing to enter or leave Viet Nam through designated ports will be eligible to use the service.


The Finance Ministry has been assigned to take charge of the pilot programme which is scheduled to last till the end of 2012.


Initial locations for the pilot are ports in Hai Phong City, HCM City, and Da Nang and Ba Ria – Vung Tau provinces.


The pilot is expected to lead to wider implementation of the programme at ports in Quang Ninh, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa provinces, and Can Tho City in 2012.


Customs agencies have been ordered to send replies to e-filers that they accept or reject their declarations with clear reasons within two days of receipt.

E-customs procedures for cargo ships include providing a detailed list of goods, a list of crew and a copy of the loading bill.
