VietNamNet Bridge – A quake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale occurred in Sin Ho in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau at 9 am, April 28.

This is the third quake in the past several days. On April 25-26, Lai Chau had two quakes of 3.8 and 3.6 Richter scale.
The Center for Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning has said that the latest quake in Lai Chau occurred at the depth of 12 km. The quake didn’t cause any losses.
Le Minh Huy, Deputy Director of the Institute for Geophysics said that there are many earthquakes in Lai Chau because it is located in the faults zones of Lai Chau-Dien Bien and Muong Te.
The latest quake that caused serious losses in Lai Chau and Dien Bien was the one in 2001, which injured four people and damaged 3,200 houses.
The strongest quakes in Vietnam so far were the 6.7 Richter scale quake in 1935 in Dien Bien city in northern Vietnam, and another of 6.5 Richter scale, also in Dien Bien in 1983.
