Bùng phát từ tháng 3/2014, đại dịch tồi tệ nhất thế giới Ebola ghi nhận trên 21 nghìn ca nhiễm bệnh, khiến hơn 8.600 người thiệt mạng, phần lớn tại 3 nước tâm dịch Tây Phi là Sierra Leone, Liberia và Guinea.
