In preparation for the seventh VFF Congress that will take place on June 5, the meeting selected eight candidates for the VFF Presidency.
 
The eight candidates include: Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh (Head of the Central Committee for Internal Affairs, Party Secretary of Da Nang), Mr. Hoang Anh Xuan (General Director of Viettel telecom group), Mr. Le Hung Dung (VFF Vice President), Mr. Pham Van Tuan (VFF Vice President - Deputy General Director of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training), Mr. Le Quy Phuong (Rector of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Sports), Mr. Do Quang Hien (Chairman of T & T Group), Mr. Vo Quoc Thang (VPF Chairman), and Mr. Le Khanh Hai (Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism).
 
However, according to VFF Chairman Nguyen Trong Hy, three candidates have withdrawn: Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh, Mr. Vo Quoc Thang and Mr. Le Quy Phuong. Thus, the list of candidates for the VFF Presidency remains five.
 
In addition to candidates for the chairmanship, the executive committee also passed through eight candidates for the position of vice presidency and three candidates for the position of General Secretary.
 
The candidates will have to present their plans to develop Vietnam’s football. The conference agreed to hold a Congress of openness and transparency, which will be broadcast live on television and will have the involvement of the press.
