VietNamNet Bridge – A shipwreck occurred on January 12 in the Lo River in the northern mountain province of Tuyen Quang resulted in two deaths and six missing.

The boat sunk in the middle of the river while carrying 13 people from the right to the left bank. These people had just left a betrothal ceremony to visit their friend on the other bank of the Lo River.

The sunken boat is a small iron vessel that locals often use to cross the river.

By 7 pm, rescue workers fished out seven people but two were dead. The victims are a woman and a five-year-old girl, both from Tuyen Quang city.

Rescue workers are searching for the six missing people.

Local authorities said the boat was overloaded.
