This comes after the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council passed Resolution No. 57/2025/QN-HDNSD on November 14, 2025. The resolution formalizes new gift levels for milestone birthdays to express the city’s gratitude and respect for its senior citizens.

Age-based gift tiers

Seniors will receive the following cash gifts once per age milestone:

·        Age 70 and 75: 800,000 VND (~$32) per person

·        Age 80 and 85: 1.2 million VND (~$48)

·        Age 90 and 95: 1.8 million VND (~$72)

·        Age 100: 2.3 million VND (~$92) in cash, plus 5 meters of silk (worth up to 700,000 VND or ~$28), and a gold-inlaid plaque (with 0.08 chỉ of 24K gold and craftsmanship costs up to 1.5 million VND or ~$60)

·        Above age 100: 2.4 million VND (~$96) cash per person

These gifts are designed not only as financial support but also as symbolic acts of honor for the city’s aging population.

Policy rooted in fairness and heritage

The city government stated that the new gift levels reflect a fair and unified approach following the merger of three former localities. The policy aims to standardize the celebration of elders while ensuring continuity with previous traditions.

Officials emphasized that the program represents the city’s deep gratitude toward its elderly citizens, recognizing their lifelong contributions to society.
