Everybody works to earn a living then when they reach a certain age they retire. However, some elderly people in the capital still have to work, despite old age and illness. 

They must work from very early in the morning until late at night to get enough money to support themselves and their families, yet they always try to keep a warm smile on their faces despite their hardships.

These elderly people do almost everything from repairing bicycles.





To selling books on the pavement.




 
And opening a tea shop.





Working as a xe om (motorbike taxi driver).





Nguyen Thi Thi, 73, earns an income selling herbal medicines.





This small shop is the main source of income for Nguyen Thi Lan (70 years old) to support her mentally
handicapped daughter and her nearly 100 year-old mother.





Other people wander around the wholesale markets
 looking for jobs.
