VietNamNet Bridge - Mr. Duong Quang Thanh has been appointed by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung as the new Chairman of the Board of Members of the Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) from March 25.

Duong Quang Thanh, former EVN Deputy General Director, replaces Pham Le Thanh, who is now EVN General Director.

Earlier, Pham Le Thanh was temporarily appointed EVN Chairman, replacing Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong who was promoted to the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.

Duong Quang Thanh, born in 1962 in the central province of Quang Binh, holds a Ph.D in Economics.

He also has a Master’s Degree from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand.

He has worked in the power industry for more than 30 years, including 20 years at EVN.

He was appointed EVN Deputy General Director position in March 2007, in charge of preparing investment in nuclear power projects, building the power market, human resource training and construction and investment of grid and power sources, especially the key power projects in south Vietnam.
