The information provided to the embassy was very vague and did not include information on the universities the students were attending or their home addresses or contact numbers. The embassy immediately contacted the Japanese ministry of foreign affairs (JMOF) and other authorities requesting assistance in the search for the two students.
On April 14, however, the JMOF reported they had no record of the two students having entered Japan.
The Vietnamese embassy then requested the person who initially provided the information about the two students to provide more details. However, the person in question said that he had received the news through a friend.
To date, the embassy has not had any contact with the students' families.
The embassy asked any individuals or organisations with information about those two students to report to them immediately for searching purpose.
