VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnamese embassy in Malaysia is working with local relevant agencies to quickly settle the incident related to 69 Vietnamese working for Malaysian company Asmana and ensure their interests to the maximum.

52 of these workers are staying at the detention centre of the Penang immigration department

Nguyen Tien San, an official of the embassy, said his agency is urging local relevant agencies to complete necessary procedures to repatriate these workers or send them to a new company in Malaysia.

San also informed the workers in the detention centre that Asmana company was committed to refunding illegal deductions and paying basic wages for the workers.

The vice head of the Penang immigration department, Mustaffa Kamal bin Hanaffi, said his department has complied a list of workers who want to return home or move to a new workplace.

52 Vietnamese workers and 30 Nepalese workers were temporarily detained by the Penang immigration department on March 17 and were later moved to the witness protection centres in Kuala Lumpur and Malacca.

On March 31, these workers were sent back to the Penang immigration department.
