Deputy Health Minister Tran Van Thuan said the policy of the Vietnamese Government and the Ministry of Health is to diversify the sources of supply of Covid-19 vaccines to quickly have vaccines for people. Vietnam aims to have 150 million doses by the end of this year.
The Ministry of Health expects that organizations, individuals, businesses, provinces and cities, with their relationships, can connect and access legal and qualified vaccine sources. The Ministry of Health, in its functions and duties, is ready to create favorable conditions for licensing, testing, and early import of vaccines.
The Ministry of Health has sent a document to the People's Committees of 63 provinces and cities throughout the country on this policy. However, Deputy Minister Thuan emphasized that the Ministry of Health has warned of fraud regarding vaccine purchases.
Photo: Four batches of AstraZeneca vaccine have arrived in Vietnam, of which two were provided by Covax Facility and two were ordered by the Ministry of Health through VNVC.
As of June 2, 36 companies in Vietnam are allowed to import and trade vaccines. Agencies that have access to legal vaccine sources can directly work with the Ministry of Health or with one of these 36 agencies to import vaccines into Vietnam.
With vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) for emergency use (AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Sinopharm, Johnson & Johnson ...), the Ministry of Health will consider and grant an import licence within five working days upon receipt of all legal and valid dossiers and accompanied by official authorization of the Covid-19 vaccine manufacturer. For other vaccines, the approval is within 10 days.
To date, Vietnam has licensed two vaccines for emergency use, AstraZeneca and Sputnik V.

Vietnam to buy 20 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine this year
Russia has agreed to provide Vietnam with 20 million doses of its coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V this year, Vietnamese Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said on June 2.
