The rains in the central region in recent days are not as heavy as the one that caused the historical flood in 1999. However, they have caused more severe consequences because hydropower reservoirs discharged water at the same time.
VietNamNet Bridge – Since the day hydropower plants sprung up in the highland, lowland people have been living in constant anxiety. They have lost the land for agriculture production, faced drought in dry season and floods in rainy months.
When raising the dam elevation by one more meter, the Song Con 2 hydropower plant expects to earn 10 billion dong more a year. However, hundreds of households have shouted for help because they have lost land.
