VietNamNet Bridge - Before the 'Kong: Skull Island' film crew comes to Vietnam, some places like Halong Bay, Ninh Binh, Hue and Sa Dec were chosen as the backdrop for many foreign films.

Halong Bay

As one of the first landscapes in Vietnam recognized as the world natural heritage, Ha Long Bay is the most famous tourist site in Vietnam.

Halong Bay has appeared in many films such as “Pan” by director Joe Wright in 2015 and “Indochine”,  a French movie by Resgis Wargnier in 1999. It will appear in the movie “Kong: Skull Island” by director Jordan Vogt - Roberts.

Ninh Binh

Ninh Binh is the land of charming rivers and mountains in the northern delta. It also appeared in the movie “Pan”, “The Quiet American” and “Indochine”.

Quang Binh

The narrow land strip of Quang Binh became famous internationally after the world’s largest cave of Son Doong was discovered. Photos and films about the cave have been posted on many newspapers, websites and aired on TV channels around the world. Last year the US TV programme Good Morning America on the ABC News channel aired live at the Son Doong cave.

Many landscapes in Quang Binh such as Thuong Hoa, Yen Tu, Tu Lan, and En cave (the world’s third largest cave) will appear in the “Kong: Skull Island” movie.

Hue

Hue is the last feudal capital in Vietnam. It has been preserved well. “Indochine” was the first and only foreign film crew licenced to film inside the citadel in 1989.

Sa Dec

“The Lover” - the film based on the novel of the same name by the famous French writer Marguerite Duras, which is about her love affair with a young Chinese entrepreneur named Huynh Thuy Le in southern Vietnam in the 1930s. It was shot in Sa Dec, especially in the historic house of Huynh Thuy Le. This site has become a popular tourist site in Sa Dec.
