In the history of Miss Universe, Vietnam has sent 12 representatives to compete in Miss Universe pageants, with some of them leaving a positive impression on the judges and spectators.
Hoang Khanh Ngoc became the first Vietnamese contestant to compete in a Miss Universe pageant in 2004. She stands at 1.81 metres tall, weighs 61kg, and measures 84-65-97. Although she won the Best Catwalk sub-category, she did not finish among the Top 15.
Hanoian girl Pham Thu Hang left empty handed during Miss Universe 2005.
Nguyen Thuy Lam was named as the winner of the first-ever Miss Universe Vietnam in 2008. She also came in the Top 15 of Miss Universe 2008.
Vo Hoang Yen represented Vietnam at Miss Universe 2009 yet left the pageant with no prizes. She stands at 1.79 metres tall, weighs 54kg, and measures 90-61-91.
The first runner-up of Miss Vietnam 2010 Vu Hoang My competed in both the Miss Universe 2011 and Miss World 2012 pageants but failed to win a title.
Miss World Vietnam 2012 Luu Thi Diem Huong competed for the Miss Universe crown in the same year, but didn’t record any outstanding achievements. She stands at 1.75 metres tall, weighs 50kg, and measures 84-61-92.
Khmer ethnic girl Truong Thi May, who was the first runner-up during Miss Ethnic Vietnam 2007, was the nation’s entrant at Miss Universe 2013.
Pham Huong left empty handed during Miss Universe 2015. She stands at 1.74 metres tall and measures 80-59-91.
Dang Thi Le Hang, the second runner-up of Miss Universe Vietnam 2015, represented Vietnam at Miss Universe 2016. She stands at 1.74 metres tall, weighs 52kg, and measures 81-62-87.
Nguyen Thi Loan failed to win any title during Miss Universe 2017. She stands at 1.76 metres tall, and measures 90-63-95.
H’Hen Nie became the first Vietnamese representative to be named among the Top 5 during Miss Universe 2018. The Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 winner stands at 1.73 metres tall and measures 83-60-97.
Hoang Thuy is set to be the Vietnamese entrant at Miss Universe 2019. The first runner-up of Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 stands at 1.77 metres tall and measures 82-60-94. The girl from Thanh Hoa province was also the winner of Vietnam’s Next Top Model back in 2011.
