Nguyen Thi Phuong Khanh from the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre bested 87 other contestants to be crowned Miss Earth 2018, making her the first Vietnamese woman to win the title.
Melanie Mader from Austria was named Miss Air (first runner-up).
Phuong Khanh warmly welcomed Mader and then took her to see HCM City.
They travelled throughout HCM City, visited HCM City Museum and book street as well as Ben Thanh Market where they bought souvenirs. Phuong Khanh bought a hat made of latanier leaves as a present for Melanie Mader.
Many people took photos with them.
Phuong Khanh also invited Melanie Mader to enjoy street food in HCM City.
Phuong Khanh has responded to the #ChallengeForChange campaign by collecting litter under Saigon Bridge. Being an ambassador of the Earth Hour 2019, she called on the public for environmental protection.
