PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with coach Park Hang-seo and the national football team after the team won the AFF Cup 2018.

The women’s football squad trained by Coach Mai Duc Chung defeated Thailand at the final match to clinch the gold medal of SEA Games 30. This is the sixth time they have secured the gold medal at the event.

Meanwhile, the male team eased past Indonesia 3-0 in the final at the Philippines’ Rizal Memorial Stadium on December 10.

Vietnamese fans flooded Hanoi's streets to celebrate the victory of the men's football team on December 10

A brace by Doan Van Hau and a goal by Do Hung Dung secured a convincing victory for Park Hang-Seo’s side and quenched the Vietnamese team’s 60-year thirst for the SEA Games championship title.

Both of the teams have received huge bonuses for their achievements.

Right after their victory, the men’s football team trained by South Korean Coach Park Hang Seo received VND7 billion (USD304,347), including VND1 billion from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and VND2 billion from the Vietnam Football Federation.

The figure is expected to continue rising.

The two squads are scheduled to arrive in Hanoi at 3 pm today, December 11.

Two days later, the male football team will fly to South Korea for a training camp to prepare for Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U23 Championship in January next year. Dtinews
