Security tightened ahead of two upcoming World Cup qualifiers

The area surrounding the My Dinh National stadium has seen its security tightened ahead of two upcoming fixtures in the Asian zone’s second qualifying round for the World Cup 2022.

The matches include Vietnam’s tie against the UAE on November 14, followed by Vietnam taking on Thailand on November 19.

Information about the increased security was announced by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on November 7 following a meeting where preparation work and measures to ensure the security of fans and those in attendance was discussed.

The VFF will co-operate with Hanoi police in order to ensure the security and safety of those in attendance before, during, and after the matches. Fans are being encouraged to arrive at the stadium early in a bid to reduce traffic congestion around the stadium. Those who choose to burn flares or firecrackers at the stadium will face harsh punishments.

There has also been an update sent to police forces in the capital city regarding the activities of away fans by the VFF, meaning that additional protection measures will be implemented if necessary.

The My Dinh National Sports Complex have also been asked by the VFF to suspend their business activities on the days of the two fixtures.

In addition, food and beverages sold during the games will be monitored by security forces and will have to meet hygiene and food safety standards. VOV
