A tanker truck collided with a motorbike on January 1 causing massive traffic jams on National Highway 1A at the section through Van Binh commune, Thuong Tin district.

The collision takes place at rush hours when road users from different provinces come back to Hanoi after the holidays. 

Many drivers climb onto sidewalks to seek an alternative route during the traffic congestion.

Almost all cars get stuck in the 5-km stranded road. 

Many families with kids have to stop somewhere and wait. 

Heavy traffic congestion also takes place on Giai Phong street. 

Traffic police are present to regulate traffic. 

The road to the city’s centre is heavily jammed. 

At 6pm on January 1, traffic jam also occurs in Nguyen Huu Tho Street, Hoang Mai District.
