To prepare for the stormy season, hundreds of workers of the Hanoi Water Drainage Enterprise
 are busy with dredging the system of canals and sewers. This is Dong Bong canal in Cau Giay district.



The workplace of environmental workers is black and smelly canals.




They are busier when the stormy season comes. Besides the salary of VND5
million on average, they are provided with milk and sugar.




They work in mud for six hours a day.




This is a hard job but most of workers are women. Many couples do this job together.





Most of them said that they satisfy with their current income. However,
some of them still have to do extra jobs.



After two hours of dredging this dirty canal, a group of 15
 workers loaded 4.5 tons of mud.




They amused themselves while working.




Mr. Duong Van Bon, 51, said that he has followed this job for 34 years.




They finished their job at noon.
