You are invited to see the film “15 Ans et Demi” (15 and a Half) of director François Desagnat and Thomas Sorriaux. This highly predictable, yet moderately amusing tale of a widowed scientist (Daniel Auteuil) living 9 months a year in the USA, who returns to his French home to parent his teenage daughter, steers a well worn path in generational differences, yet has some flashes of humour and wit.
Synopsis: “He has solved all problems with micro-biotic apart from one problem: his daughter!”
Philippe Le Tallec, an outstanding scienctist who lives in American for the last 15 years now decides he must return to France to take care of his daughter Eglantine. He hopes to take advantage of this opportunity to build a closer relationship with his teenaged daughter and makes up for the lost time, however, his daughter has other things on her mind rather than spending time with her father…
This holiday is completely different from what he expects and Philippe is disappointed. So he enrolls himself in a workshop for troubled parents, led by Jean-Maxence, a famous psychiatrist in guiding methodology.

Festa Musicale Pattaya 2012 (The 5th International Choir Festival) will be taken place from 18 to 22 Jul 2012 in Pattaya, Thailand. The Festival Grand Prix Pattaya is opened for choirs and individual participants. This year, the competition grand prix will have following categories: B – Children’s choirs, C – Boys’ choirs, D – Youth choirs, E – Adult choirs, F – Folklore without age differences, G – Chamber choirs (women, men, mixed, max. 24 singers), H – Vocal groups without age differences (8 – 16 singers), I – Spiritual, gospel, jazz without age differences.

Exhibition “Single Mothers’ Voices” in Soc Son District

The exhibition of “Single Mothers’ Voices” was displayed at the Vietnamese Women’s Museum from March 7th to August 7th, 2011. It raised a lot of interest within the community because of the social relevance and the humanistic approach of the real life stories through the words of single women. The exhibition was displayed for five months at the museum, and on the morning, August 9th 2011 the Vietnamese Women’s Museum cooperated with the Tan Minh Party Committee and local authorities to lauch the exhibition of “Single Mothers’ Voices” in Tan Minh. Participants are both the single mothers and the people of Tan Minh Commune. Through the exhibition, the local people better understood the single mother’s hardships, thoughts, dreams and future plans.
This exhibition expresses the new approach of the Vietnamese Women’s Museum in cooperation with the community to organize the display about their own community. It also reflects social issues and participation in realizing the goal of equality.

Special screenings of Italian films will be held at Hanoi Cinematheque in honour of the 150th anniversary of the Italian unification. “The Second Wedding Night” will be screened on 26 Aug and “Miss F” on 01 Sep.
“The Second Wedding Night” from director Pupi Avati, is set during the initial years of World War II. The film follows a single famiy to describe the dire situation of the Italian population.
“Miss F” tells a story of star-crossed lovers from different social backgrounds. It captures Italy during the late 70s and early 80s, at a challenging turning point in its history.

You are invited to the photography exhibition “The Bahnar Minority in Kontum” from the work of Nguyen Kinh Chi and Nguyen Dong Chi on the occasion of its bilingual publication.
In 1934, aged 21 years old, Nguyen Dong Chi followed his brother Nguyen Kinh Chi to live in Kontum. During his 10 month stay in Kontum, the two men spent time researching and collecting data on the Bahnar – an ethnic minority living in the city of Kontum and their customs. This ethnology research was published in Every Kontum (Hue, 1937) and now is being translated into English, titled The Bahnar Minority in Kontum (2011) by the Ancient Far East Institute in collaboration with Knowledge Publisher.
