In late February and early March, TPD will come back after Tet holiday with Pixar film month. The first week comes along with “Toy Story 2″ and “Monsters, Inc.”

In the field of 3D animation, Pixar (now belongs to Walt Disney) has left behind its rival DreamWorks Animation or llumination Entertainment (Universal), Blue Sky Studios (20th Century Fox), Sony Pictures Animation, etc.

About the film

TOY STORY is a 1995 American computer-animated adventure film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.

Directed by John Lasseter, Toy Story was the first feature-length computer-animated film and the first theatrical film produced by Pixar

The film was written by John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Joel Cohen, Alec Sokolow, and Joss Whedon, and featured music by Randy Newman. Its executive producers were Steve Jobs and Edwin Catmull

MONSTERS, INC. is a 2001 American computer-animated comedy film directed by Pete Docter, produced by Pixar Animation Studios, and released by Walt Disney Pictures.

The idea for Monsters, Inc. was conceived in a lunch in 1994 attended by John Lasseter, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton and Joe Ranft during the production of Toy Story. One of the ideas that came out of the brainstorming session was a film about monsters. “When we were making Toy Story”, Docter said, “everybody came up to me and said ‘Hey I totally believed that my toys came to life when I left the room.’ So when Disney asked us to do some more films, I wanted to tap into a child-like notion that was similar to that. I knew monsters were coming out of my closet when I was a kid. So I said ‘Hey, lets do a film about monsters’

Last year the Science Film Festival reached over 580 000 visitors in Cambodia, Egypt, the Gulf Region, Indonesia, Jordan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Palestine, the Philippines, Sudan, Thailand and Vietnam. It is the most extensive event of its kind and one of the biggest film festivals worldwide in terms of audience reach.

In 2015, the Science Film Festival takes place internationally between October 01 and December 20 and invites visitors to discover more about the theme this year:

LIGHT- Discover the different roles light and its applications play in our everyday lives and what it reveals about the nature of the universe.

You are invited to the group exhibition “MÙI TẾT” (TASTE OF TET) inspired by the GOAT on the occasion of Tet Holiday featuring paper paintings, paper statues, bend bronze reliefs and ceramic sculptures by artists: Nguyen Van Chung, Thai Nhat Minh, Ha Huy Muoi, Nguyen Viet Thang.

Nguyen Van Chung was born in 1973 in Hanoi, graduated from Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts, majored in graphic design, in 1997. He has participated in various prestigious local and international exhibitions and won the “Ánh mắt trẻ” (Young Talent) prize in 2005, organized by the French Embassy.

Nguyen Van Chung brings the improvisational, simple and refined spirit to “MÙI TẾT” through his pastel, black and white paintings on paper.

Thai Nhat Minh was born in 1984 in Vinh Phuc and graduated from Hanoi University of Fine Arts in 2009. Minh has had a passion for sculpture since a very young age. However, not until 2005 did he launch his artworks to the public with 2 impressive solo exhibitions in Hanoi: “The Birds” (Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, 2013) and “Breeding Season” (Manzi Art Space, 2014). He also participated in numerous group exhibitions and being introduced at some Asian Art Fairs.

15 featured statues belong to his latest collection “Happy New Year 2015″ which are covered by paper on bronze frame and finished on Jan 2015. These artworks are inspired by the goat, spring and breed following the previous “Breeding Season” series.

Ha Huy Muoi, born in October 1982, Hanoi, has organized about 20 local exhibitions in various genres and materials.

This exhibition will introduce his “Goat” reliefs made in bend bronze, a material that requires meticulosity and patience with stylized and general shapes generality. His warm greeting is so sincere and simple.

Nguyen Viet Thang, born in 1973, Hai Phong, graduated from Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts, majored in sculpture, in 1997.

The exhibition will feature a series of Goats made from Sa mot ceramics. From square or round shape with horizontal or vertical lines, in addition to handmade colors, Thang has created a poetry collection for “MÙI TẾT”.

Manzi Seeking Proposals for Solo/Group Exhibition

Established in December 2012 as an independent art space aiming to support contemporary Vietnamese art, manzi encourages diversity, creativity and co-creation in the arts & culture.

We are calling for proposals for solo/group exhibitions from young Vietnamese artists. Successful applicants will then work with our team to further develop and realize their proposals before their exhibitions, which will take place this year at manzi.

Manzi will provide successful applicants with an exhibition venue, all PR works and some production money.

You are invited to exhibition “Leonid Keller”. Started in winter 2014, Leonid Keller is a collaboration between the artists Julia Ossko and Eugen Schulz.

Julia Ossko, born in Munich, Germany (1978). Lives and works in Berlin.

Julia Ossko studied Design in Berlin. Afterwards she worked in the field of photography for many years.

In her work, Julia Ossko keeps away from anything that is fast-paced or impulsive. She combines her mostly large format drawings with the factor time, which results in a deeper relation with the object.

Eugen Schulz, born in Uspenka (Kazakhstan, 1984). Lives and works in Berlin.

Eugen Schulz studied Design and Illustration in Berlin and St Petersburg. He co-founded the artist’s collective Quintessenz in 2008 and was a member until 2013.

Eugen Schulz creates refined collages from found, printed materials. Different stories hide behind his futuristic, minimalist compositions. Subtle nuances transport philosophical content behind simple forms.
