VietNamNet Bridge – At the request of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), two football clubs (FC) owned by arrested mogul Nguyen Duc Kien have assigned their executive managers as their temporary representatives while Kien is suspended from football-related activities.

Kien’s arrest does not affect Vietnam’s football, says VFF’s Chair

Nguyen Duc Kien

After Kien was arrested for investigation of his economic-related violations, the VFF sent a written request to the Hanoi FC (playing at the V-League) and the Young Hanoi FC (playing at the First Division Tournament) to choose their legal representatives to replace Kien.

On August 27, the two FCs assigned their executive managers as their temporary representatives. Managing director Le Xuan Thong of the Hanoi FC and Executive manager Le Khac Chinh of the Young Hanoi FC are the two selected persons.

But both Thong and Chinh stated that they are only nominal representatives and nobody can replace Kien at his clubs.

Since their boss was arrested, football players of the two above FCs felt worried and something missing. They have not been fully paid with salary and bonus. They also face future uncertainty because the investigation has just begun.

Executive manager Le Xuan Thong said on August 27 that football players would not be paid salary and bonuses late. The matter had been reported to Kien’s wife, Ms. Dang Ngoc Lan.

At the Vietnam Professional Football JS Company (VPF), where Kien used to be Vice Chair, General Director Pham Ngoc Vien has been assigned to cover Kien’s tasks.
