Artwork by eight contemporary artists from Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (ROK) are on display at an exhibition, which opened in Hanoi on March 3 under the theme “Ranh gioi vo dinh” (“Undefined Boundaries”) as an event to celebrate 25th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.

The participating artists, aged from 30 to 40 years old, include Ki Seulki, Heaven Beak, Lee Woosung, Jo Hyejin, Uu Dam Tran Nguyen, Phi Phi Oanh, Bui Cong Khanh and Lai Dieu Ha. They are currently active on the domestic and international art scenes.

Choosing different practices, such as painting, photography and installation, the artists represent in their works diverse perspectives about boundaries between traditional and modern, ideal and reality, individual and society, and at the same time convey stories about changes happening in the two countries.

The exhibition, which is part of the NEXT Expert Training series jointly organised by the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam and the Korea Arts Management Service, will run until March 31 at the Korean Cultural Centre in Vietnam, 49 Nguyen Du Street, Hai Ba Trung District.

Two roundtable discussions covering the topics of art museums and galleries, independent art spaces, art collections and the fine art environment in each country will take place from March 16-17 with the participation of eight visual arts experts from Vietnam and the ROK in order to seek ways to boost future fine arts exchanges between two countries.

The events are designed to establish a platform where experts on contemporary art and artists from both countries can create and discuss, thereby strengthening Vietnam-ROK bilateral relations.
