A collection of 200 artworks, including paintings, graphics, and sculptures, created by 193 artists between 2019 and 2024, was unveiled to the public on the morning of November 15 at the Vietnam Military History Museum.
The exhibition commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day. Titled National Fine Arts Exhibition on the Armed Forces and Revolutionary War (2019 - 2024), the event showcases 200 standout works that reflect Vietnam’s enduring spirit of resilience and patriotism.
The exhibited works capture Vietnam’s heroic resistance during the wars against French colonial and American imperial forces. They celebrate the patriotism and sacrifices made to safeguard national independence and sovereignty, honor the image of the "Uncle Ho's Soldiers" in building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and depict the modern soldier in their efforts to transform the military into a revolutionary, regular, elite, and increasingly modern force. The works also embody lessons learned from the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh.
Earlier, the organizing committee received 644 submissions from 407 artists nationwide, a 150-piece increase compared to the 2014–2019 period. The showcased pieces will be evaluated by the Ministry of National Defense’s council for the five-year Armed Forces and Revolutionary War Art Awards (2021–2025). Outstanding works will be nominated for the National Awards in literature, arts, and journalism on this theme.
