An exhibition zone displaying more than 1,000 ancient Da Lat City souvenirs was inaugurated by Lam Dong Province's Culture Centre in Ly Tu Trong Street cultural centre on December 22.

The launch of the exhibition zone is part of the activities being held to celebrate the Da Lat flower festival 2015, which will take place from December 29 to January 2, 2016.

The exhibition zone is located inside an old French-style villa, which was previously the palace of the province chief Tuyen Duc. Most of the exhibited items have been donated by the citizens of Da Lat, and are linked to their daily lives.

The more-than-1,000 items have been divided into six major categories of nguyen quan (native country), am tram (bass sound), nguoc sang (against the light) and khoang lang (silent moment), besides thoi ay (that time) and tim lai (seeking again). They are all connected in a storyline meant to recall the social and cultural lives of citizens in the past.

Items relating to the manufacturing tools of the first flower gardeners of Ha Dong and Thai Phien villages, as well as old cassettes, clothes, televisions and projectors, besides compact discs are also displayed in other areas of the exhibition.

"The exhibition zone is an open and free space and will become an amazing destination for citizens and tourists who wish to learn about Da Lat City's past," Nguyen Vu Hoang, director of Lam Dong Province's Culture Centre, said.
