VietNamNet Bridge – Tan My village in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue has several tens of houses, but it has a “ghost city” with hundreds of splendid tombs, which are worth several billion dong each.

This is a fishing village, which was very poor in the past. In recent years, thanks to money
sent by their families from overseas (most of them left Vietnam before 1975), the village has gotten rich.

They have built nice houses and magnificent tombs.

Many tombs are built on large plots of land of hundreds of square meters.

Each family builds a complex of tombs, which are worth hundreds of thousands of USD.

They also build family temples.

Most of the youngsters have left Vietnam. Only children and old people are in the village.
They live on money sent from overseas. They do not work but only take care of family tombs and temples.
