According to ICT News, an official website of the Ministry of Information and Communications, 30 million Vietnamese people use social networks at some time, primarily on a smartphone. Every day nearly 20 million people do so, with some 17 million using smartphones, which is around 13 per cent higher than the global average.
Vietnamese people spend about two and a half hours every day on Facebook, more than one hour more than on other social network and double the time they spend watching television.
In January the number of Facebook users each day had increased 43 per cent compared to January last year, and the number of Facebook users on mobile phones had grown an impressive 55 per cent.
Regarding age, 75 per cent of users are from 18 to 34. Most use Facebook to chat with friends or visit the Facebook page of famous brands.
Vietnamobile successfully launched a USSD-based (unstructured supplementary service data) Facebook access service in Vietnam, enabling users to check their Facebook accounts on any mobile phone without an internet connection.
As demand for social networks is increasing while coverage by internet and 3G remains quite limited and not everyone can afford a smartphone, Vietnamobile has developed and introduced a wide range of integrated products that provide enhanced benefits and new experiences for customers.
“USSD Facebook comes from our deep understanding about the needs of many Vietnamese consumers who don’t use a smartphone or work in areas without internet or 3G access,” said Vietnamobile’s Sales & Marketing Director, Mr. Victor Fernandes. “The incorporation of telecommunication networks and online services is a way to simplify traditional payment methods and brings more convenience to users.”
Vietnamobile is the fastest growing nationwide mobile communications service operator in Vietnam, providing 2G and 3G services. Focusing on network quality, competitive tariff plans, and best-in-class customer service, the company is well positioned to rapidly increase its market share and set new trends in Vietnam’s telecom market.
