There are Facebook accounts or fanpages with the names of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, President Truong Tan Sang, General Party Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers.

Only Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien has an official Facebook account, which was launched this week. She is the first Vietnamese minister to have an official Fanpage on the Internet.

As the head of the Government of Vietnam, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has always attracted public attention, including the online community.

On Facebook, there are many fanpages named after the Prime Minister, with one page up to 760,000 followers. The fanpage is linked to a website of the same name, with the domain based in the United States.

The fanpage publishes content that is not related to the operation of the Prime Minister.

Many fanpages are also named after President Truong Tan Sang and General Party Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. These accounts may belong to those who admire the leaders or to those who want to attract followers.

A fanpage named after General Party Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has up to 89,000 followers, but the site shares information in many different fields.

The name of Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang and Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang are also used for many fanpage and personal accounts.

Currently, if you want to create an account with the names of celebrities like Mark Zuckerberg, and US President Obama, Facebook will immediately issue a warning.

The rampant fake Facebooks of Vietnamese politicians have caused concern because these accounts may take advantage of the prestige of those who are being impersonated in order to spread false information, or to cheat for different purposes.

In a related issue, a police officer from the Information and Communication Security Agency of the Ministry of Public Security said that if information about fake Facebook pages is submitted and denounced, the police would investigate and handle the cases.
