A Ha Noi joint inspection team has seized some 1,877 handbags with fake labels of famous brands from a manufacturer in Thao Noi village in suburban Phu Xuyen district.
More than 1,800 handbags with fake labels of Dior, Hermes and Louis Vuitton are seized on Wednesday.
The Phu Xuyen police and the inspectors of the Ministry of Science and Technology conducted a surprise inspection of the shop, Phong Hanh, on Wednesday and found 1,670 fake handbags and purses with the labels of Dior, Hermes, and Louis Vuitton.
The shop is owned by Pham Thi Hanh, 27, and her husband Pham Huu Phong, 31.
A thorough search at the couple's factory and storage revealed 270 fake handbags and 460 logos and belt buckles of high-end brands.
The team also seized 12 sewing machines and a press machine that were used to attach the logos to the handbags.
Meanwhile, the representatives of Dior, Hermes, and Louis Vuittion in Viet Nam confirmed that the products seized were fake.
Phong admitted that he bought the logos on the black market and attached them to handbags manufactured at his factory to catch up with the increasing public demand for high-end products.
Police are further investigating the case.
