Do Quang Van, director of the company, said a passenger last Sunday asked the Saigon Railway Station to confirm four Saigon-Hue tickets and station staff found these tickets are fake as the passenger names and ID numbers on the tickets do not match the data on the station’s computer system.

The station is coordinating with the police of District 3 where the railway station is located to investigate this apparent fraud case.

Certain passengers still choose to buy train tickets from resellers outside the station, Van said, and this is the main source of train ticket fraud.

According to the station, passengers should check details on the tickets at www.dsvn.vn when they buy tickets from strange people outside the railway station.

Passengers are told to visit the website to make online ticket bookings and check information about departure date and ticket price, among others.

A source from the railway station said there are some websites selling train tickets whose prices are four or five times higher than the official prices quoted by the station.

These websites include www.vietnam-railway.com, vietnamtrainticket.com, vietnamrailways.net, cheapvietnamtrain.com, vietnamtraintravel.com, dailytravelvietnam.com, and yourlocalbooking.com.
