K-pop singers from Girls’ Generation (SNSD) band, one of the most popular groups in South Korea, will join the NCT127 boy band onstage at the free Going Together concert at My Dinh National Stadium on April 1.
Girls’ Generation will ethrall Vietnamese and Korean audiences with their hits on Saturday at My Dinh National Stadium.
The concert will be held jointly by Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the South Korean embassy to Ha Noi to celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and South Korea.
This is the fourth Going Together show in Việt Nam and the first since 2008.
SNSD set a record in Japan, becoming the first foreign female artists to occupy the top spot in all three categories in the prestigious Japanese Oricon charts simultaneously.
They also were the first South Korean singers to appear on two American famous talk shows The Late Show with David Letterman in 2012 and Live! With Kelly at the same year.
Established in 2007, the band has become one of hallyu (Korean wave)’s representatives to the world. The girls won video of the year category at YouTube Music Awards in 2013.
The eight-member SNSD is also the first Asian band to have five videos gaining 100 million views on YouTube with Gee, I Got A Boy, The Boys, Mr. Taxi and Oh!
The band performed in Viet Nam in 2012 on the celebration of the 20th anniversary of relationship between the two countries.
"The concert in Việt Nam will be a rare chance for all members of the band performing together," said the Korean Cultural Centre director Lee Dae-joong at the press conference.
NCT127 boy band was set up in 2016. NCT is short-written of Neo Culture Technology. The boy band’s hits such as Firetruck and Limitless have become more popular with Asian audiences, including the Vietnamese.
The seven-member band performed in HCM City in January.
The concert will be conducted by Vietnamese MC Phi Nguyen Thuy Linh and Korean Lee Teuk. Vietnamese singer Hoang Thuy Linh is invited to be performed.
Before the concert, SNSD will spend with local fans who are from Vietnamese-Korean families at Grand Plaza Hotel.
Both idols and fans will make Korean traditional kimchi. The concert aims to raise fund from South Korean entrepreneurs in Viet Nam setting up study promotion fund.
