VietNamNet Bridge – Immediately after the game between Vietnam and Myanmar ended, the My Dinh Square in front of the My Dinh National Stadium was flooded by thousands of people carrying Vietnamese flags and banners.

Fans flocked to Hoan Kiem Lake in central Hanoi to cheer for the national football squad’s 7-1 victory. They shouted “Vietnam triumphs,” “Long live Uncle Ho”, etc.

Vietnam’s victory is not a surprise but the score 7-1 made fans to go into ecstasy.

“It’s marvelous! The Vietnamese team played with such passion, especially Minh Phuong and Anh Duc. I hope that this opening victory will inspire our players. Vietnam will be the champion again!” said a fan named Thanh.

“I like coach Calisto very much. He didn’t betray Vietnamese fans’ feeling. Vietnam will see Thailand in the final game!” said Quynh, a student from the Hanoi Culture University.

Along the roads around the My Dinh national stadium, dozens of people stood to sell Vietnamese flags.
