Walls of houses in Ly Son island district in the central province of Quang Ngai have become beautiful paintings by volunteer experts from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Eighteen mural paintings reflecting the lives of villagers created on the walls. The project is made by volunteers from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and authorities of Ly Son island district. The project began in early June and was completed in two weeks. Authorities of Ly Son island district hope the project helps raise public awareness of marine environment, especially wildlife. Sea turtle is the main theme in most of mural paintings. Ly Son Island is one of rare places in Vietnam where sea turtles live. More tourists have visited the village to enjoy the new artistic ventures. Coracle sailing is a favourite beach activity here. It costs US$2.72 (VND60,000) for a person. |
