Origami art lovers understand that it’s principally about geometry, relying on the folding of paper to create amazing enigmatic shapes.

However, when it comes to Vietnamese artist Quyet Hoang Tien, his approach is a little innovative and takes the ancient Japanese art of paper folding to another level, using a special technique known as ‘wet folding’.

To create elegant paper animal sculptures Quyet dampens each piece of paper before he begins the folding process. This allows him to create smooth curves instead of the more traditional straight folds.

The results are a marriage of aesthetics and science that goes well beyond paper. It is as if his paper creatures have been imbued with life.
