The models, including top faces Thanh Hang and Hoang Thuy, will wear more than 1,000 items of clothing from designers’ latest collections, with the themes Ban Sac Vien Dong (Beauty of the Far East), Lan Song Moi (New Waves) and Ngoi Sao Tuong Lai (Future Star).

They will also wear ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) from 30 talented fashion designers, including Thuan Viet, Truong Thanh Hai, Ha Nhat Tien and Tuan Tran.

The designs feature the city’s history and achievements. The three-day festival will include out-door fashion, theatre, music and song shows.

Music and song performances will feature young singers and dancers from leading traditional art troupes in the region.

Electronic music and light performances in 3D and mapping technology will also be highlighted.

The event’s opening night on October 20 is expected to attract 10,000 visitors.

Organised by the HCM City’s Department of Tourism, the festival is expected to attract more than 300,000 people.

“We spent VND30 billion (US$1.3 million) on the festival. We will organise the festival every October to promote the city’s fashion industry and tourist activities,” said Bui Ta Hoang, director of the HCM City’s Department of Tourism.
