On May 17, an Ao Dai (traditional long tunic of Vietnam) fashion event was held at the main square of the Ly Thai To monument to commemorate what would have been President Ho Chi Minh’s 125th birthday (May 19).

Throughout history Ao Dai has been the traditional elegant dress of Vietnamese women that has tied feminine beauty to nationalism and it was a most befitting way to honour the late president.

The event attracted hundreds of local and foreign participants from a vast array of countries around the globe.

Many foreign ladies commented they were extremely proud to wear the Ao Dai dresses and said they suddenly found themselves as modestly gentle and tender as any Vietnamese lady.
